Hello Kitty Fundays: Hello Kitty Halloween Cupcakes

Hello everyone and welcome to my very first blog post! If you become an avid reader of this blog, you will learn that I LOVE Hello Kitty. I have been collecting all things Hello Kitty for as long as I can remember. It got me wondering... just how much Hello Kitty stuff do I own? Well you and I are going to find out! Once in a while I will feature a Hello Kitty item (or multiple items) in a special section of my blog titled Hello Kitty Fundays!

Since Halloween is tomorrow, I decided to kick off Hello Kitty Fundays with these Halloween cupcakes. I spotted this kit at Walmart for around $5. I thought it was a little pricey, but if its got Hello Kitty's face on it I have to have it.

The kit includes chocolate cupcake mix, orange frosting mix, sprinkles, decorative wrappers, and cupcake toppers. This kit makes 8 cupcakes.

The directions are on the side panel of the box. You just mix together the chocolate cupcake mix, 3 TBSP. of butter, 1/4 cup of water, and 1 egg. For the frosting, mix together the frosting mix, 4 TBSP. of butter, 1 cup of powdered sugar, and 1 TBSP. of milk. I baked them at 350° F for 18 minutes.

The toppers are already assembled so I just had to fold the decorative wrappers. There are 4 different designs for the toppers. The bats are so adorable! :)

Here is the finished product! Once the cupcakes cooled, I put a frosting tip into a piping bag and frosted the cupcakes. I decorated them with the sprinkles that came in the kit, placed them into the wrappers, and stuck the toppers in. I'm going to be honest and say that these cupcakes didn't taste very good. After all, it came from a box. However, it was really fun to decorate these cupcakes! :D

Thank you for stopping by and reading my very first blog post! Happy Halloween!
